Q&A: Why bill proposed in Hong Kong set off huge protests

___ WHY WERE PEOPLE PROTESTING? Opponents of the proposed extradition amendments say the changes would significantly compromise the territory’s legal independence, long viewed as one of the key differences between Hong Kong and mainland China. Critics believe the legislation would put Hong Kong residents at risk of being entrapped in China’s murky judicial system, in which political opponents have been charged with economic crimes or ill-defined national security transgressions. Severely Constipated Girl Turned Out To Have More Than 100 Undigested Boba Pearls In Her Belly

Fans of the beverage may be glad to know that “research” linking the drink’s tapioca pearls to cancer has been found faulty, but – as with most things in life – moderation is a good idea. Archaeologists Mystified By Newly Dated 5,000-Year-Old Human-Made Islands

Hundreds of ancient human-made miniature islands speckle the waterways of Scotland and Ireland. Once believed to have been built and repurposed as dwellings over the course of 2,500 years, new radiocarbon dating reported in the journal Antiquity shifts that timeline by thousands of years, suggesting that these “crannogs” date back to the time of Stone Henge and potentially served as ritualistic offerings. It started in 2012 when a local resident decided to dive around the lake beds of one of these islets located in the Outer Hebrides. During his time underwater, he found well-preserved and nearly intact ceramic pots scattered around the island. Further exploration by researchers found similar pottery at five other crannog sites in the area. According to …

Sometimes, Silence Is The Best Revenge

Holly Riordan Updated June 15, 2019 By Elliott Dunning I know you want to write out a long, elaborate text explaining exactly why you’re upset with this other person. I know you want to show up at their door, screaming about how you cannot believe what they’ve done to you. I know you want to slash their tires, toss a drink at their face, sleep with their best friend. I know you want some sort of revenge, some sort of closure, some sort of way to deal with your anger. This probably isn’t what you want to hear while you’re all fired up, but sometimes, silence is the best form of revenge. Your silence speaks a thousand words. It shows …
